Surrounded by the hills of the Deccan plateau, Pune lies at the confluence of two rivers, the Mula and Mutha. It's colonial past is alive in lovely old bungalows, tree-lined avenues and a profusion of small gardens dotting the cityscape. Its peaceful and verdant surroundings have earned it the sobriquet of Queen of the Deccan and the burgeoning number of educational institutions in the city has led many to call it the Oxford of the East.
