New Delhi is the venue for a number of important trade expositions - such as the Auto Expo and the Defence Expo. Other popular events are the Republic Day Parade on the 26th of January, held at Rajpath, and the Surajkund Crafts mela where artisans and craftsmen representing the entire cultural panoply of India meet in February to showcase their skills. The International Mango festival is an annual event held in July-August.
The important festivals celebrated in New Delhi are Janmashtami, Rakshabandhan, Dussehra, Id-ul-fitr, Guru Nanak Jayanti and Diwali. Dates vary from year to year.
