Festivals and Events
By far, the most spectacular event in Nashik is the Kumbh Mela. Celebrated once in 12 years in one of four spots in India (the other three are Haridwar, Allahabad and Ujjain), Nashik becomes a pilgrimage spot for nearly four million devotees who throng the banks of the Godavari and visit the Trimbakeshwar Temple. The dates vary from year to year but August and September are considered to be the holy months. The Ramnavmi Rath Yatra is another major attraction for devotees who come to Nashik to celebrate the Janmotsava of Lord Rama.
