Goa is known as holiday heaven among the majority of travellers. Many people think that Goa is only for those who love beaches, but the reality is completely opposite. Apart from famous beaches, Goa is home to various parks, forts, churches, hills, and much more. Let's take a look at some of the best tourist spots of Goa and understand why Goa must be on your bucket list:
Agonda Beach: Of course, the very first place worth visiting must be a beach! What's special? A quiet, peaceful, and serene stretch of sand occupied by very few tourists. You have to visit this place to feel the tranquillity and placidity in its purest form. You can also find many shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, and massage parlours.
Fort Aguada: Built in the 17th century by the Portuguese, the fort gives a fascinating view of Arabian Sea, Mandovi River, and the city of Panaji. There is a 13-metre high lighthouse, which was constructed in 1864. The fort was constructed as a defence against the Dutch and Marathas. You will find very less crowd here, hence, a perfect location for some personal time.
Dudhsagar Falls: Mesmerising and furious at the same time, witness the roar of nature. Dudhsagar Falls, located on the Goa-Karnataka border, is one of India's tallest and most powerful waterfalls. Boasting a height of 1017 ft., the waterfall can be seen from a train journey towards or from Margao. You can also trek to the base of the waterfall and witness this alluring scenery.
Basilica of Bom Jesus: One of the most important tourist attractions in Goa, Basilica of Bom Jesus is where the body of St. Francis Xavier is preserved. This place is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Constructed in 1605, in baroque style, the body of the saint was bought here in the year of 1622. You can visit this place from 09:00 am to 06:30 pm.
Naval Aviation Museum: This is the only Naval Aviation in entire India, and is at Dabolim in Vasco da Gama. You can find a number of items on display that include aircrafts, rockets, bombs, protective gears, pilot outfits, parachutes, and much more. If you are into such stuff, then this place is a must-visit for you.
